OTP still tops Hungary banking market, Euromoney says
London - OTP has retained its place at the top of Hungary's banking sector over the past year, Euromoney said in its July issue.
The London-based global financial monthly said in this year's Awards for Excellence ranking that OTP "remains the clear market leader" in Hungary, accounting for 40pc of the total after-tax profits in the Hungarian banking sector is 2008.
"By far the largest player" in Hungary's retail banking market, OTP Bank had 30.4pc of household deposits and a 29.6pc share of household loans last year, Euromoney said.
OTP has been awarded the title of the best Hungarian bank in Euromoney's annual rankings for several consecutive years.
The best international bank in Central and Eastern Europe as a whole in Euromoney's 2009 Awards for Excellence ranking is RZB/Raiffeisen International.
